LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Orchestra will welcome "America's most celebrated soprano" for its Spring Gala Concert this April.
The orchestra announced Wednesday Renée Fleming would be joining "Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene," inspired by her Grammy Award-winning album of the same name.
The Spring Gala Concert is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Whitney Hall at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.
The orchestra said Fleming's performance will "captivate audiences with her luminous artistry in a program celebrating the beauty and fragility of our planet."
Visuals from the National Geographic Society will accompany the performance, which promises an "immersive and unforgettable experience."
Listeners may recognize Fleming's voice from movie soundtracks including "The Shape of Water" and "The Lord of the Rings."
Fleming is a five-time Grammy Award winner, a 2023 Kennedy Center Honoree, and a U.S. National Medal of Arts recipient who has performed at events including the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony and the Super Bowl.
The orchestra said "Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene" "celebrates the interconnectedness of humanity and the natural world through a collection of evocative songs, ranging from Handel to folk songs, original works commissioned for this project, and 'The Lord of the Rings.'"
Tickets for the Spring Gala Concert go on sale this Friday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available for purchase online or by calling 502-587-8681. For tickets and more information, click here.
