LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Two local organizations came together to say thank you to area first responders.
On Saturday, Wayside Christian Mission teamed up with the Just Serve organization to host a picnic lunch at Hotel Louisville for first responders as way to say thank you, especially so close to the anniversary of 9/11.
First responders enjoyed lots of burgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies and fellowship.
Departments that couldn't make it had food delivered to the fire stations.
"The first responders here are very familiar with clients here at Wayside Christian Mission, and they are very good about showing up and helping our folks which we could not do that without them," Nina Moseley, of Wayside Christian Mission, said.
Each first responder also got a thank you card written by children who are staying at Wayside Christian Mission.
