LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A local celebration was held over the weekend to celebrate the Lunar New Year.Â
This year marks the Year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac, one of 12 animals in the calendar cycle. Sunday's event celebrated Asian culture through dance, drum performances, and lots of food.
"We have vendors all across the walls here with food that represents different cultures that also celebrates the Lunar New Year," said Dung Tran, owner of The Streatery.
Louisville Metro Councilwoman Betsy Ruhe, D-21, and The Streatery on Woodlawn Avenue in the Beechmont neighborhood organized the event.
"This is the second year that Dung has held this celebration and despite the fact it's 28 degrees and snowing out, we got a full house in here," said Ruhe.
The Lunar New Year celebration continues through March 3.
