LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center is closing for summer repairs May 25 and is expected to reopen Sept. 2.Â
The aquatic center at 201 Reservoir Ave. off Frankfort Avenue in Crescent Hill is closing for "significant renovations and improvements," according to a news release from Louisville Parks & Recreation.
The improvements include replacing tile on the pool deck, repairs to the weight room and a fresh coat of paint to the outside of the building.
Signs have been posted at the center notifying people of the closure, and patrons won't be charged their regular membership fees while the aquatic center is closed.Â
The improvements are estimated to cost around $500,000 and are pare of the city's planned FY25 budget.
Parks and Recreation’s three outdoor swimming pools are expected to open on May 24, including a brand-new pool at Algonquin Park. The other two pools are in Sun Valley and Nelson Hornbeck (Fairdale) parks. The city also offers more than 30 spray grounds and spray pads, some of which have already been turned on for the season.
