LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local organization is reaching out to veterans in need with a special event in Hardin County this week.
Volunteers of America Mid-States is hosting a "Stand Down" event in Elizabethtown on Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is scheduled to take place at the Elizabethtown Pritchard Community Center on Mulberry Street.
The free event provides resources for homeless and at-risk veterans all in one place. Those resources include referrals for health care, housing solutions, employment, substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling.
Veterans who attend will receive a free boxed lunch.
