Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear released a statement on his Twitter page early Monday morning saying he has authorized Kentucky State Police to lead the investigation into a shooting that left one person dead in west Louisville during protests over the weekend.
The business posted on Facebook that, "our hearts go out to his community and his family, and we would like to give back."
David “Ya Ya” McAtee, the black man who was shot dead during a police incident in west Louisville early Monday morning, fired a gun before being hit amid an exchange of gunfire involving Metro police and National Guard troops, according to Louisville police's description of video they released Tuesday. Police said it was not clear whom McAtee was firing at, nor who shot McAtee.
