LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — An NFL quarterback is returning to Louisville to help kickoff the Kentucky Derby Festival.

Former University of Louisville star Teddy Bridgewater will be the featured speaker at the 2026 They're Off! Luncheon.

Bridgewater played for the Cards from 2011-13 and is now entering his 12th NFL season as he returns to the Detroit Lions.

"Louisville will always hold a special place in my heart," Bridgewater said in a news release Tuesday. "Some of the most meaningful moments of my career happened here, and I’m honored to return and help kick off the Derby Festival."

The luncheon was first held in 1957 and is the second oldest KDF scheduled event.

Tickets are still available to purchase online.
