LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The countdown to Derby season is bringing new experiences to this year’s Kentucky Derby Festival, with organizers adding several events designed to expand the celebration.
The 2026 lineup includes more than 70 events, and new additions range from high-energy entertainment to relaxing waterfront experiences.
At Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront, the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Hype Crew will bring acrobatics, stunts and live family entertainment to the Great Lawn.
Along the Ohio River, a water lantern event will invite attendees to decorate and release glowing lanterns at sunset.
A new Senior Derby Party at Louisville Slugger Field will offer music, food and Derby-themed activities tailored for older adults.
Sports fans will also see an official festival soccer match at Lynn Family Stadium featuring Louisville City FC.
Organizers said the new events are meant to broaden the festival’s appeal and give attendees more ways to celebrate Derby season.
The festival runs through dozens of events leading up to Derby Day.
