LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The leaders of some of Louisville's most well-known and fastest-growing companies don't actually live here.

That's according to our partners at Louisville Business First, which has a new story on these "super commuter" CEOs at companies like El Toro, Yum! Brands and Waystar.

Experts say whether or not Louisville can find a way to convince top executives to live in Louisville while running their Louisville companies could determine the city's economic, philanthropic and even athletic future.

"When company leaders reside here, things get done," Papa Johns founder and former CEO John Schnatter told Business First. "Back in the day, (Louisville had) David Jones of Humana — and we built great companies and reinvested in Louisville. This gave us the opportunity to bring stadiums, arenas, zoos, and parks, along with great tax revenue for the city and state."

"Now there's a leadership void," he said.
