LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville police are investigating after a crash Sunday night in Shively left a woman in critical condition.
According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis, the crash happened just after 7 p.m. on Seventh Street Road at Wurtele Avenue.
Officers believe a car with two occupants, a man and a woman, had slowed down and were attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Wurtele Avenue when they were hit by another car.
That car was being driven by a woman, Ellis said, and witnesses told police she was traveling at a high rate of speed when she hit the other vehicle.
The impact of the crash forced the initial vehicle into the northbound lanes where it was hit by another car, also being driven by a woman.
The driver and the passenger of the initial car were taken to University Hospital. The man had non-life threatening injuries and the passenger, a woman, had injuries that are "critical to life threatening," Ellis said.
The two other drivers that hit the initial car, both women, were also transported to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
