LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man died in a crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 65 involving two semi-trucks and four cars.
According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis, officers responded to the accident shortly after 1 a.m. It was reported in the southbound lanes just past the Grade Lane exit, near the Louisville Muhammed Ali International Airport.
The investigation showed the man was traveling south when he lost control and tried to overcorrect. He then hit a retaining wall and bounced back into the roadway, where he was hit by two semis and three other cars as they tried to avoid him.
EMS pronounced the man dead on the scene. He was the only person inside the car at the time of the crash, Ellis said.
Another person in the crash was transported to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He or she was alert and conscious and is expected to be OK.
All of the vehicles involved stopped and remained on scene.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation, which Ellis said is still in the early stages.
Officials are working to get the roadway clear in time for the morning rush, but recommended to take an alternate route if possible.
