LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — One person died and three others were hospitalized in critical condition after a head-on collision Tuesday night in south Louisville.
Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Sgt. Matt Sanders said calls started coming in about 10:15 p.m. of a reckless driver traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on Interstate 265 near Stonestreet Road.
Sanders said more calls then came in saying the wrong-way driver hit another car head on.
The wrong-way driver, in a Toyota Corolla, was the only person in the vehicle. He or she was taken to the hospital hospital in critical condition.
Three people were in a Hyundai Sonata that was hit by the Toyota. One of those people died at the scene, Sanders said. The other two were also hospitalized in critical condition.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.
