LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — One person was rescued Thursday morning from a duplex fire in Shively.

The fire happened just before 9:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of Candor Avenue, according to Shively Fire and Rescue.

Crews responding to the scene "encountered a working fire" in a single-story duplex, and were told by neighbors that someone was inside the home.

"Firefighters immediately initiated rescue and fire suppression operations, simultaneously conducting an aggressive interior fire attack and primary search efforts," the fire department said in a Facebook post.

Fire officials said one person was rescued from a bedroom and taken to a local hospital for treatment, though their condition was not provided.

The fire originated in the kitchen area, causing "moderate damage," officials said.

It took about 10 minutes for crews to get the fire under control. Officials said one firefighter suffered "minor injuries and is currently receiving treatment." The extent of the firefighter's injuries was not given.
