LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police said Flock cameras helped officers arrest a man over the weekend after he was caught riding a stolen motorcycle while carrying drugs on him.
Anthony Richardson, 41, of Shepherdsville, was arrested July 5 on charges of receiving stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.
According to a social media post from LMPD, officers received a Flock camera safety alert around 8:30 a.m. that detected a stolen motorcycle.
A second camera alert seven minutes later showed the motorcycle had entered the area of LMPD's Fourth Division. Officers were able to locate and pull over the motorcycle, being driven by Richardson.
Officers took Richardson into custody without incident, and also seize one ounce of methamphetamine from him.
Police said Richardson was a repeat offender with an "extensive criminal history."
Flock cameras capture passing vehicles and record identifying information, including license plate numbers, make, model and color. LMPD said the cameras, which are placed across the city, help solve crimes, while groups like Kentucky DeFlock argue they raise privacy concerns and enable mass surveillance.
Richardson is currently being held at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $5,000 bond. He was arraigned Monday and is scheduled to appear in court again July 14 at 9 a.m.
