LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people were hospitalized after falling 45 feet while hiking in eastern Kentucky.

Powell County Search and Rescue were called to Courthouse Rock trail around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

First responders used GPS coordinates and live cellphone video to find the exact location of the hikers.

Both victims were carried out on stretchers and then airlifted to the hospital in serious condition.

Officials say the victims suffered traumatic injuries. The entire rescue took several hours and special equipment was needed.
