LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Snow is still on the ground around the Louisville from more than a week ago. It's taken a lot of work to get the city's main roads cleared, and there's still more to be done, particularly on smaller residential and neighborhood streets.

Mayor Craig Greenberg said Tuesday crews put down more than 44 million pounds of salt on the roads in Jefferson County and more than 18,000 gallons of calcium chloride. And city trucks collectively drove more than 24,000 miles.

They also helped clear or treat several Jefferson County Public Schools bus stops and TARC routes.

More than a week after the winter storm hit part of Kentucky and Indiana, freezing temperatures remain, keeping several inches of snow on the ground. In total, from two storms that arrived five days apart, 1 foot of snow and a layer of ice coated Louisville.
