LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The main roads in Louisville were clear for the most part Friday morning, but the side roads are a different story.
Many neighborhood streets were still slick several days after a winter storm blanketed the city with snow and ice, and the streets that were plowed now have piles of snow pushed up against the side of the road and driveways.
City leaders said Friday that snow crews continue to work around the clock, as they have been doing since Sunday, and emergency contractors have now been called in to help.
Several council members joined Deputy Mayor Nicole George Friday, thanking people for their patience during the snow removal process.
They're asking people not to park on emergency snow routes, but said they won't tow parked cars and there is no penalty -- but it does make it harder for crews to do their job trying to get the roads cleared.
"This is an issue that exists pretty equally across the city," said ninth district councilman Andrew Owen.
"The further east you go the more small cities there are, the more HOAs there are that pay more taxes and take care of some of these services themselves so when you drive in parts of town, some parts of town may look like they have more streets plowed, but those are other cities responsibilities, they pay more taxes, and that's why it may look like this."
The plan is for crews to continue working through this next round of snow until it's over Friday evening.
