LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville-area hardware stores are busy this week as families try to make way for the next round of winter weather.
Supplies are leaving stores fast these days, many people taking home de-icer.
"If you put the salt down, you have less chance of falling,"Â Jerry Steinberg, a Kentuckian, said.
Steinberg has come to terms with the scattered flurries and frigid temps staying in the area.
"You have to prepare for it," Steinberg said.

With this new, cold weather advisory, Steinberg searched for de-icer.
He finally found it at Brownsboro Hardware in Prospect.
"It was pretty tough, but it comes with the territory. You could go out to California and your house could burn down today. So you take it as it is,"Â Steinberg said.
Shovels are also disappearing left and right.
"It's just been a lot more snow than I ever remember getting here in Louisville. So it's been a lot of shovels, shovels,"Â Matthew Isham, who works at Brownsboro Hardware, said.
Isham said now they are only selling one shovel per customer.
"We want to make sure we try and get as many to as many people that need them as possible," Isham said.
Oscar's Hardware is also really busy.
Randie Schmidt, who works at Oscar's Hardware, said the store's recent shipments of ice melt are the only reason their pallets aren't empty.
"We were down to the last little bit. So we are staying on top of it and ready for the next storm,"Â Schmidt said.
Last minute window scrappers and batteries are also a good idea.
"It never hurts to just ask somebody for a little help sprinkling of salt or shoveling your sidewalk for you," Schmidt said.
The more you can do to protect yourself, home, and pets the better.
"Take every day as it is. Be glad that you're alive and you can do what you can,"Â Steinberg said.
With more snow coming this Friday, if you haven't done so already, you'll want to protect the exterior parts of your home, too.
