LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police officers arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed an e-bike rider on Outer Loop over the weekend.

According to LMPD, the department's Traffic Unit arrested 28-year-old Diego E. Garcia Orozco in connection with the July 5 crash in the 2100 block of Outer Loop. In his arrest citation, police said Garcia Orozco stopped for about 30 seconds after the crash before backing up and driving away.

Officers tracked down the car and interviewed Garcia Orozco, who admitted he left the scene and got a new windshield that day. Police said the other damage on his car was consistent with the crash. According to his arrest citation, Garcia Orozco also didn't have a valid license, insurance or registration.

He's charged with second-degree manslaughter, failure to render aid and additional related charges, police said.

The crash happened around 11:45 p.m. Sunday between Stinnett Lane and Grade Lane. Investigators previously said a man riding an e-bike on Outer Loop was hit by a vehicle that didn't stop at the scene. The impact threw the rider from the e-bike onto the shoulder of the roadway.

EMS pronounced the e-bike rider dead at the scene.
