LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Search and rescue crews have found a 48-year-old man alive who went missing nearly two weeks ago at Red River Gorge.
Wolfe County Search and Rescue posted updates all week on Facebook at Scott Allen Hern went missing July 6. They found his vehicle parked at the Tower Rock trailhead, which is off KY 715 east of Slade, Kentucky.
Hern was located alive on Saturday, but he is in need of medical attention. Wolfe County Search and Rescue said teams are working now for an air evacuation from his remote location.
Hern's family said they haven't heard from him since July 5. The Wolf County Search & Rescue team Hern's family told them he'd been visiting waterfalls in the area over the last few months, and Hern kept a diary that made note of several places he planned to visit.
Wolfe County Search & Rescue is asking visitors to avoid the area between the Gladie Visitor Center and Osborne Bend trailhead.
