LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across Kentuckiana.

Here are a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening Saturday, Sept. 14 and Sunday, Sept. 15.

55th Jeffersontown Gaslight Festival

The 55th annual Jeffersontown Gaslight Festival is underway.

Jeffersontown, Kentucky celebrates with the 55th annual Gaslight Festival, Sept. 7-15. Centered in the small-town ambiance of Gaslight Square, the festival has evolved into a time-honored tradition of Jeffersontown.

What started as a small street party in 1969 has grown to become one of the area's largest festivals. Over 135 arts & crafts vendors travel from across the country to showcase their talents.

The Gaslight Festival, hosted by The Chamber Jeffersontown, has events each day, including a motorcycle rally, golf scramble, 5k run/walk, shop & eat local, parade, balloon glow, and a car show.

More than 130 area business, civic & nonprofit organizations spread awareness at this three-day event.

Below is a complete list of new dates and features:

  • This year, Gaslight Festival opens a Food Court offering more food options and seating. Local entertainment, adult libations and live music will be available all weekend. The Food Court is located behind Third Turn.
  • Explore a Truck - Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. – Noon featuring emergency and utility vehicles on display for children to experience
  • Jtown Farmer’s Market moves to Gaslight Square on Taylorsville Road and becomes part of the showcase on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Lanesville Heritage Weekend

The southern Indiana town of Lanesville is celebrating small town life in a big way.

The 49th annual Lanesville Heritage Weekend Festival started Thursday and runs through Sunday, Sept. 15.

Lanesville's Heritage Weekend was first celebrated in 1976. It was originally founded as the Lanesville Bicentennial Celebration for the nation's bicentennial year.

See how farmers lived 100 or more years ago with vintage farm machinery and techniques of farm life.

The three-day festival showcases the history and heritage of small towns, beginning annually on the second Thursday in September.

More than 75,000 people will visit Lanesville over the festive weekend, which also includes amusement rides, food, vendor and craft booths, a parade and live entertainment.

Louisville Pride Festival

The Louisville Pride Foundation's annual September festival kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday on Bardstown Road.

This will be the eighth year for the event, which includes live music and entertainment, a drag show, more than 150 vendors, a family zone, food trucks and more.

"This year's theme, 'Homecoming,' is a celebration of our journey together as a community. It's about welcoming everyone to a place they belong, filled with love, acceptance and pride," Ebony Cross, executive director of the Louisville Pride Foundation, said. "Each year, we aim to outdo ourselves, and 2024 will be no exception. We invite everyone to join us for a day of joy, music, unity, and health."

Performers include Louisville R&B artist Marzz, DJ Kim Sorise, DJ Warren Peace, Ahc, Jessica Leslie, The Daddy Sisters and School of Rock Louisville.

Drag performers include Syimone, Leah Halsotn, RuPaul's Drag Race Season 10 star Dusty Ray Bottoms, Evelyn Salt, Roman Young, Kassandra Hylton, Monika Monae, Karmen Kazzi, Nicole Jackson Valentino, Vanessa Demornay and Vic Leon. 

The festival takes place on Bardstown Road between Longest Avenue and Grinstead Avenue until 11 p.m.

Attendees will also be able to get free vaccines through the Healthy Communities Initiative, which provides support for those living with HIV and resources for those impacted by substance abuse.

Kentucky vs. Georgia football

The Wildcats will take on No. 1 Georgia this Saturday at Kroger Field in Lexington.

According to WDRB's Rick Bozich, the Bulldogs (2-0) have already made Clemson and Tennessee Tech look like the junior varsity. In eight quarters, Georgia has allowed two field goals.

Kentucky (1-1) is coming off a game when the Wildcats failed to score a touchdown in a 25-point beatdown by South Carolina.

The Time: Saturday, 7:30 pm., Kroger Field, Lexington, Kentucky.

How to Watch/Listen: TV — ABC Sports, Ch. 11 WHAS (Sean McDonough, play by play; Greg McElroy, analyst; Molly McGrath, sidelines); Radio — UK Sports Network, 840 WHAS (Tom Leach, play by play; Jeff Piecoro, analyst; Dick Gabriel, sidelines).

The Line: Point Spread, Georgia favored by 24 points; Over/under total points, 45.

The Last Time: The Bulldogs surged to a 34-7 halftime lead and dispatched the Wildcats, 51-13, in Athens for their 14th straight victory in the series.

September Meet at Churchill Downs

Racing has returned to Churchill Downs with the September Meet, which kicked off Thursday with Twilight Thursday races.

The races from Sept. 12-29 at the historic Louisville racetrack are worth more than $3.5 million.

The September Meet will offer horsemen opportunities to prep for the November Breeders' Cup World Championships, which will be held Nov. 1-2 at Delmar Racetrack in California. And months-long points race known as the Road to the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks kicks off Saturday, Sept. 14.

Road to the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks Kickoff (Saturday, Sept. 14):

  • The Road to the 151st Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks will launch with the first points-bearing prep races for each series. The Road to the Kentucky Derby starts with the $300,000 Iroquois (GIII) at one mile, and the top five finishers will be awarded points to qualify for America’s greatest race next May. The $300,000 Pocahontas (GIII) at one mile begins the Road to the Kentucky Oaks.

College Day (Saturday, Sept. 14):

  • College students will receive free general admission with a valid college I.D., and full-time students are eligible to enter drawings for $20,000 in scholarships thanks to a partnership with KTA-KTOB: one $10,000 scholarship and five $2,000 scholarships that include one designated scholarship to children of backside workers at Churchill Downs and another to a student enrolled in the University of Louisville Equine Industry Program. There also will be prize drawings for exclusive Churchill Downs merchandise and a $250 gift card to The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass, as well as giveaways of limited-edition Churchill Downs ball caps in area college colors and Churchill Downs tote bags.
