LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man is dead after they crashed their Tesla into a tractor-trailer in Harrison County Wednesday.
Indiana State Police said the crash happened on Interstate 64 East at the 99.5 mile marker in Harrison County around 3 p.m.
The driver of the car died at the scene, but the truck driver wasn't injured. Authorities identified the victim as 50-year-old Suresh Kumar Lohano of Washington, Indiana.
A preliminary investigation shows that a semi-truck and trailer was traveling east on I-64 when it suffered a mechanical issue which made the vehicle lose power.
The driver couldn't steer into the right lane or shoulder due to oncoming traffic but slowed down and stopped in the left lane. Then the driver called 911 and placed safety triangles out behind the truck.
Lohano, who was driving a Tesla, approached from the west but failed to merge into the right lane before crashing into the semi.
