LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A boil water advisory is in effect for Lanesville, Indiana, after more than eight inches of rain caused extreme flash flooding Tuesday.

The advisory will remain in effect for 72 hours, Harrison County Emergency Management officials said Wednesday.

Lanesville Water customers are being asked to boil water intended for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth and food preparation.

EMA officials said damage assessment teams will be working in Lanesville and Corydon Wednesday to document and evaluate damage from Tuesday's flooding.

More than eight inches of rain fell over the course of about three hours in Lanesville, turning streets into rivers, trapping neighbors in their homes and businesses and caused some to take shelter on rooftops.

EMA officials said anyone with questions can call them at (812) 738-8949.
