LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Dozens of people gathered at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport on Tuesday to welcome home some well-deserving heroes.

Eighty-four veterans returned from Washington, D.C. on Honor Flight Bluegrass. Among the 84 veterans, there were three World War II veterans, seven Korean War veterans, and 74 Vietnam War veterans.

The group visited the nation's capital to see memorials dedicated to the wars they fought in.

This Honor Flight, a nonprofit that relies solely on donations, was special because an anonymous donor covered the expenses for all 84 veterans.

While Honor Flight would not disclose the full amount of the donation, it said each flight averages around $125,000 and the donor's portion covered a significant amount.
