LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- About a third of students still haven't had a hepatitis A vaccination, Kentucky health officials said.Â
About 65% of students have gotten the shot, but the state is hoping to get to 85% or higher. Kindergartners have the highest vaccination rate at 84%, and seniors have the lowest at 46%.
Kentucky had a hepatitis A outbreak in 2017, which prompted mandatory vaccinations.
Sixty-one people have died from the virus.
