LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Glenmary area of Louisville just got a brand new emergency room and urgent care facility.

Baptist Health held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning on the 11,000-square-foot facility, Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care Glenmary, which sits on Bardstown Road just south of the Gene Snyder.

The facility offers both emergency and urgent care services 24/7 under one roof with a dedicated ambulance entrance and on-site imaging—including CT, X-ray, ultrasound and EKG, as well as laboratory services.

Officials said the new facility helps patients save money and time while taking the guesswork and stress out of deciding where to go for care.

"This facility is a meaningful step forward for our community. By bringing essential services together in one place, we're making care more accessible for the area and easing the burden on other facilities," Dr. Jonathan Velez, president of Baptist Health Louisville, said in a news release Thursday. "Most importantly, it allows Baptist Health to provide an Urgent Care/ER hybrid that our neighbors can count on."

Velez added that the facility expands Baptist's reach and makes care more convenient for the community.

When patients arrive, they are evaluated by a board-certified and ER- trained doctor who determines the level of care needed.

The Glenmary location is one of three combined ER and urgent care facilities locally. The other two are located in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and off Blankenbaker Parkway in Louisville.

The Jeffersonville facility opened on East 10th Street in August 2022 as the area's first dual facility.

The Blankenbaker Parkway location in Jeffersontown opened in April 2023.

The ERs at the facilities are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Urgent care hours run from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Appointments are not required at any of the facilities.
