LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Bardstown, Kentucky, man won more than $690,000 in a jackpot after purchasing two Quick Pick tickets last month.
According to the Kentucky Lottery, James Smith matched the five numbers drawn on the June 26 drawing, which had a jackpot of $690,369.
He told lottery officials that he always purchases two $5 Quick Pick tickets.
"I was excited," Smith said. "I yelled for her (girlfriend). She didn’t know what was going on."
Smith said his mom thought he was lying when he told her the big news.
Smith visited lottery headquarters in Louisville on Friday with his mother and girlfriend and came away with a check for $497,065.68.
He said for now the winnings is going in savings.
