LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The body of a 55-year-old man was recovered Sunday afternoon after a boat capsized in floodwaters in southern Indiana.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources received a call around 7:20 a.m. Friday about a boat that capsized in floodwaters east of Cortland near County Road 400 E. and State Road 258 in Jackson County, Indiana, according to DNR officer Jim Hash.

Hash said two men were in the boat trying to help people who were stranded in a submerged vehicle in floodwaters when it lost power. The men were able to start the boat, but it died again and capsized. One of the men was able to make it to shore, but a search and rescue operation began for the other man. Hash said neither man was wearing a life jacket.

DNR used airboats and drones in the search as the floodwaters receded some on Saturday.

In an update Monday, DNR said the body of Bradley Deaton, of Seymour, was recovered at 2:22 p.m. Sunday.
