LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Cirque Du Soleil, a live entertainment company that produces circus-like, artistic shows on stage, is bringing its unique brand of aerial acrobatics to Louisville.
OVO opens at KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville Thursday evening. Thursday's show starts at 7 p.m.
OVO features 52 artists, ranging from diablo jugglers to aerial net artists and hair aerialists who fly through the air throughout the 2-hour program.
OVO -- which means egg in Portuguese -- is all about bugs. Yes, you read that right. There are 11 insects depicted in the show including spiders, blue flies, butterflies, lady bugs, caterpillars, beetles and more.
The storyline follows a blue fly that embarks on a journey and encounters a new colony of insects. He faces skepticism, makes friends and even falls in love. OVO’s publicist calls it "an emotional and beautiful journey."
Behind the scenes is Louisville native James Doubleday, who runs IT for OVO. He's excited to introduce the cast to his hometown.
"I just brought the staff some Modjeskas and gave them some Ale-8-One earlier, so I’m just trying to give them some local flavor and offerings we have here in Kentucky," Doubleday said. "I’m very proud to be able to take the show home to my friends and family."
