2nd annual BourbonCon is coming to Lexington in January

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Get ready to celebrate all things bourbon when BourbonCon visits Lexington in January.

The second annual celebration will feature a weekend of bourbon tastings, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, live entertainment and more. Ryan Palomo with Marriott Griffin Gate stopped by WDRB Mornings on Tuesday for a taste of what to expect.

BourbonCon will be hosted Jan. 19-20 at the Lexington Marriott Griffin Gate Golf Resort & Spa.

"This is our second annual event for BourbonCon," Palomo said. "So it's all things bourbon you can think of for two days.

Bourbons from more than 30 distilleries will be available under one roof for the weekend.

"You'll have experiences of cooking demos, tasting demos and even live experiences of how to cook with bourbon, how to taste bourbon, all things bourbon-related," Palomo said.

There will also be a chance to learn how to pair bourbon with different dishes.

"Think about it: When you have pastas, everyone is always thinking of pairing it with a wine, things of that sort,," Palomo said. "And you're like 'Well, what can I do with bourbon this time?' So this is where we have, for example, Keeneland — Marc Therrien over at Keeneland and also Chef Robbie Walters with Churchill Downs — and they're doing this really cool experience, four-course dinner meals and all these things for bourbon tastings."

Participants can sample bourbons, whiskeys and ryes from over 30 official partners like Maker's Mark, Buffalo Trace, Angel's Envy, Evan Williams, Four Roses, Heaven Hill, Beam Suntory and other.
