LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Abbey Road on the River extended its agreement with Jeffersonville for another decade.
Abbey Road on the River is a five-day, multi-staged music festival that was initially created to honor the music and spirit of The Beatles. The festival was held in Louisville, but moved to Jeffersonville in 2017.
The lease for the music festival was to expire after this year, but Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore asked producer Gary Jacob if a new lease could go for another 10 years.
"Ten years sounds about right. If Paul and Ringo are still performing into their 80s, I figure at 76, I can keep going too,” Jacob said in a news release. "This festival belongs in Jeffersonville. The city, the fans, the spirit—it all comes together here in the most beautiful way. With this agreement, we can dream even bigger."
The renewed partnership between the festival, Jeffersonville and Southern Indiana Tourism will go through 2035.
"This festival is part of Jeffersonville’s heartbeat," Moore said in a news release. "Abbey Road on the River brings people together, fills our city with joy, and gives us something to be proud of. It’s part of who we are now, and I’m thrilled it will continue for another decade."
This year, Abbey Road on the River will be held May 22-26 at Big Four Station Park in Jeffersonville. To purchase tickets, click here.
