LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jim Graven, the longtime owner of Steepleton in Louisville, will soon retire, leaving the 116-year-old business to his two children.

The company announced in a news release Thursday that Graven will step aside from one of the country's oldest pool table retailers, a position he has held since 1970.

"Steepleton has always been more than a business; it's been a family commitment to our customers and our community," Graven said in a news release. "I'm incredibly proud of what we've built over the years and confident that Gunnar and Allison will carry this legacy forward with the same care, vision, and respect for our history."

Gunnar Graven and Allison Graven will take the torch from their father, building on a legacy in Louisville that began when Steepleton opened its doors the first time in 1910.

"My father has been the steady hand and heart of Steepleton for decades," Gunnar Graven said in a news release. "He taught us that success isn't just measured by sales, but by trust, craftsmanship, and the relationships we build with our customers and employees. Allison and I are honored to continue what he started and to lead Steepleton into its next chapter with the same values that have guided our family for generations."

Steepleton now has two locations: Hubbards Lane in Louisville and Regency Road in Lexington.

The company will announce a date for the leadership transition soon.
