LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's Highlands neighborhood celebrated the 40th year of a special celebration on Saturday.
Bardstown Road Aglow was an all-day event that happens in the neighborhood every year with the help of the Highlands Commerce Guild.
Each year, thousands of people take part in exclusive dining deals, look at the festive lights, listen to holiday music and participate in activities.
There were also free trolley rides and a tree-lighting. The main tree sitting in front of the Wendy's by the Grinstead Drive intersection is more than 30 feet tall.
"It will stay on every day from 5 p.m. until 1 a.m. so people driving through the Highlands, shopping and visiting restaurants will be able to see the tree and enjoy it," Nick Morris, with the Highlands Commerce Guild, said.
Many of the bars and restaurants along Bardstown Road offered special holiday drinks thanks to Maker's Mark.
Bardstown Road Aglow has been held on the first Saturday in December since it started in 1985.
