LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Sales are about to begin on a soon-to-be-built 16 story condo tower on Louisville's waterfront. It's part of a major development that now is moving full steam ahead.

River Park Place is just to the east of Waterfront Park and it's where construction will begin sometime next year on a new condo tower.

Sales and Marketing Director Nicki Sibley says the condo tower will have 85 units with a rooftop pool and clubhouse. She says the condos are available in eight different plans of one and two bedrooms. There will also be three penthouses. Prices will begin at about $400,000.

"People in general have been reaching out to us inquiring about condos," says River Park Place developer Steve Poe, "so we've decided to test the market and pre-selling our first condo tower."

Poe hopes to sell half of the condos within 90 days and then construction can begin.

River Park Place is a 40 acre, mixed-use, master planned community. The west side apartments along River Road, which opened in 2013, are fully occupied. Construction will soon be finished on the east side apartments.

"I've never seen such demand for rental units," says Poe, "we are building our second apartment building, the marina is finished, the restaurant is getting ready to start, and we are also getting ready to start a 14 story apartment tower in addition to the condo tower."

Slowed by the Great Recession of 2008, River Park Place is full of activity with much more to come.
