LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The new iPhone 16 has been released, packed full of lots of great new features.

The big question: Should you buy one, or keep the one you have?

The company is hoping for a renewed excitement with the release of the new phone, but a simple fix may be all your old phone needs to last a few more years.

Lots of people get a new phone when their battery won't hold a charge, but a simple battery swap could save you hundreds of dollars.

Phone repair shops say a simple cleaning, screen replacement, or battery swap can add at least another year to almost any phone.

Depending on the age of your iPhone, you may have no choice other than buying a new one. Anything older than an iPhone 12 is running out of lifespan time. The 13 and 14 versions are fine, but the older phones are starting to get slow.

So if your iPhone is slowing down, a simple cleanup or repair at a local shop may save you some money.
