LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Sales of electric vehicles have slowed down with many buyers still concerned about finding enough chargers along the highway.

But, the biggest slowdown is shown in used EV's that are 2-4 years old.

One woman was shopping for a new car and was debating between gas or hybrid.

"Hybrid possibly, but definitely not all electric."

Like many buyers in 2024, she was not ready to buy a fully electric vehicle.

As a result, recent headlines say used EV prices are "nosediving," even "crashing," as buyers look at used hybrids instead.

The good news though is some car dealers are seeing price drops on used cars across the board this summer, with EV's being down much more.

"A lot of folks are saying hey, the hybrid option works for me, maybe I don't have charging options at my home, the hybrid offers that extended range."

The 2-4 year old EV still has its full battery power, and right now it is an incredible bargain.

Tesla says its batteries can last 300,000 miles before needing replaced, so a used EV with 50,000 miles on it is one of the best deals of 2024.
