Mega Millions winning $2 million ticket - 1.29.26

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Frankfort, Kentucky man's dream literally came true after he won $2 million in a Mega Millions drawing.

In a news release, the Kentucky Lottery said the man, who wanted to remain anonymous, told officials he dreamed he would win the lottery, and it came true when he hit the winning numbers for a Dec. 26, 2025 Mega Millions drawing.

“I wasn’t expecting it,” he said. “I dreamed that I would win. It was a shock to me although I was looking forward to winning one of these days.”

The man said he used important numbers to him like relatives' birthdates to choose his own numbers.

The winning numbers were 9-19-31-63-64 and a Mega Ball 7.

He went back to the Racetrac at 101 Bizzack Boulevard in Frankfort to check his winning tickets. He scanned one ticket, winning $50, and when he scanned the winning Mega Millions ticket, he realized he had won $1 million. Since each ticket has a built-in multiplier, he had won double the amount.

"Then, I scanned the next one, and it said $2 million," the man said. "It took me a second to digest it. I left without checking the rest of the tickets."

The man was just one number away from winning the estimated jackpot at the time of $125 million.

After taxes, he took home a check for $1,450,000. He told lottery officials he plans to invest and travel.

Racetrac in Frankfort will receive $20,000 for selling the winning ticket.

The current Mega Millions jackpot is $303 million, and the next drawing is Friday, Jan. 30 at 11 p.m.
