LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Have you received your electric bill for the month of July yet? Brace yourself, they're big ones.
After weeks of hot July weather, our summer electric bills are starting to arrive. As if the cost of groceries isn't high enough, now shoppers are dealing with soaring electric bills too.
Electric rates are up 5-10% nationally this year, according to the U.S. Government. It has to do with high demand and the cost of upgrading aging utility grids.
Many AC technicians will recommend you not to skip an annual tune-up or you could be in trouble. A tune-up will ensure that your system is running at its best.
You should also check your filter every couple months.
Looking for other ways to avoid a mid-summer bill shock? Ask around for better rates, turn up your AC, close your shades and drapes during the day, and run fans. It's been a hot summer and rates are not going down anytime soon.
