LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- As spring turns to summer, some people will clear out their closets and go through things they don't use anymore.
There are several different options when focusing on decluttering.
Katie Brennaman doesn't know what to do with all the toys and clutter in her home's attic.
"I think I was feeling overwhelmed because it is all in one small space," Brennaman said. "I have four children, and they are spanned out over 12 years."
Brennaman turned to a decluttering expert, Rose Lounsbury, who wrote the book "Less."
"We're not just dealing with stuff, we are dealing with feelings, so our stuff can be tied in with memories of our kids, or someone who passed on," Lounsbury said. "But if oyu have so much stuff, you probably don't know where to begin."
Lounsbury recommends people put a note on items they want to sell or donate.
"All the things you want to kep you put together, all the things you want to donate you put together, all the things you want to sell you put together," Lounsbury said.
Items can be sold on Facebook Marketplace, Thred Up, a yard sale or a local consignment shop.
Lounsbury said people shouldn't try to clear things out all in one day.
