LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Election Day is officially two months out, meaning you will be seeing and hearing hundreds of ads between now and then.
If they're already targeting your phone, there are ways to stop them!
People are receiving calls and texts all day, sometimes even knowing your name.
The worst is when these messages distract you from something you should be focusing on, like cooking or driving.
So how do they get your number? Usually, it's from your voter records.
When you register to vote, your file is public record.
The easiest thing to do is text the word "STOP" back to the sender, assuming it's not a scammer.
iPhones have an almost-secret text blocking feature. Go to your settings, click on the "messages" tab, and turn on the "filter unknown senders" button.
You can also consider a text-blocking app like Robokiller or Nomorobo.
