LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we would all like a break when it comes to grocery prices.
The good news - turkeys and fixings remain affordable, but so many other items are as high as ever this fall.
Reports show that as of the end of October, coffee is now the grocery item up the most in price in 2025 - up 19%.
The number two item is beef, which is up 15%. Coming in third is frozen juice, which is up 9%, and then bananas and condiments are up 7%.
What's down? Eggs are down 12%, though still pricier than what they used to be. Cooking oils and canned tuna are both down 3%.
When it comes to beef prices, it seems they only go one way and that's up! The Farm Bureau blames low cattle inventory is at its lowest level in 60 years due to drought and high feed prices.
Steak and burger prices typically drop in the winter, as people turn to roasts instead. But, that has yet to happen.
So while eggs and a few things are more affordable, the reality is that prices on many other grocery staples remain high.
