LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hundreds of people are using mobile scooters to travel around Louisville each day, according to Ride Report. Â
The scooters are used mainly in downtown Louisville, and also near the University of Louisville's Belknap campus and around the Highlands. There are on average more than 700 scooters available to ride daily.Â
Since the city started keeping data in Sept. 2019, people have traveled nearly 1.8 million miles on the scooters in Louisville. Scooters are used an average of 900 times per day.
People are required to ride the scooters on the road, but it's recommended to start in the bike lane. The scooters aren't allowed on the sidewalk. The average speed of people's trip is 5.32 mph.Â
Dockless scooters and associated vendor permits are managed by Louisville Metro's Public Works Department.Â
