LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Margaritaville Hotel Resort is planned to open in northern Kentucky.
A joint venture partnership between North American Properties, Stormont Hospitality Group and High Street Real Estate Partners plans to locate a $133.6 million resort at Newport on the Levee in Campbell County, Gov. Andy Beshear announced Wednesday.

According to a news release, the Margaritaville Hotel Resort is expected to create 282 jobs and provide an economic and tourism boost to the area.
"We just celebrated our best year on record for Kentucky tourism in 2022, and with exciting projects like Margaritaville being announced, we know this success will only continue," Beshear said in a news release. "This resort will help drive visitors to the Campbell County area, boosting the local economy and creating 282 new jobs for Kentuckians. We are grateful to these leaders for choosing Kentucky and our workforce."
The resort will feature family-friendly entertainment and face the Ohio River. It will have 264 rooms, a JWB Grill, License to Chill Bar, a 12th-floor pool and a Five O'Clock Somewhere Bar and Grill that overlooks downtown Cincinnati. There will also be more than 10,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

The resorts and restaurants are inspired by singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, who popularized beach bum soft rock with the escapist Caribbean-flavored song "Margaritaville." Buffett died earlier this month at the age of 76.
