Kentucky Taco Company offers new takes on 'classic comfort food'

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There's a new taco place in town.

On Wednesday, The Kentucky Taco Company opened at 502 Warnock Street near the University of Louisville campus.

The owners were given a $15,000 micro-business loan to help them grow from their food truck to their storefront location. The restaurant serves unique tacos that are made from scratch, such as the fried chicken mac-and-beer-cheese taco and the sloppy joe taco.

"We sort of take classic comfort food, and we kind of re-invent it," said co-owner Steve Higdon. "We use just a lot of cultural influences."

"A lot of the food is actually scratch-made," added co-owner Charlie Neal. "So with that, it's a lot of the food we grew up on. Our parents fed it to us growing up, so it's relatable."

The Kentucky Taco Company offers carry-out, delivery and dine-in.
