Kentucky's first medical cannabis dispensary to host soft opening this weekend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The first medical cannabis dispensary in Kentucky will open this weekend.

Gov. Andy Beshear said Thursday that The Post Dispensary in Beaver Dam, which is in Ohio County, will have a soft opening on Saturday.

The dispensary will open at 10 a.m. and stay open until 6 p.m., or until supplies run out.

The Post is the first fully-approved and licensed medical dispensary in the state. Medical cannabis has been legal in the state for nearly a year, but this is the first time patients will be able to get it.

All medical marijuana sold in Kentucky must be grown and processed in the state.
