LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A longtime hardware store in southern Indiana has new owners.

The Ace Hardware store in New Albany, located at 1905 Charlestown Road, has been sold to Brad and Karla Holmes, who also own the Charlestown Ace Hardware store.

The previous owners of the New Albany store, Gary and JoAnn Staashlem, are retiring after 7 years of ownership.

"We have truly enjoyed serving the community’s needs each day for the better part of the past decade," JoAnn Staashelm said in a news release.

The Staashelms said after meeting with the Holmes family, they feel they're leaving the store in good hands and keeping the legacy of a family-owned store within the community. The couple hopes to spend more time traveling and watching their grandchildren grow.

The New Albany Ace Hardware location has been in business for 87 years and was one of the very first Ace Hardware locations in southern Indiana.
