LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A new monthly event is hoping to bring more people out to Bardstown Road and into Highlands businesses.
Several restaurants, bars and shops are teaming up for Highlands Hop. The first event is set for 5-9 p.m. Sept. 25, with organizers planning to hold it on the final Friday of each month.
Participating businesses will offer specials and deals, giving visitors a chance to make a night of it and visit multiple spots.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, organizers hope Highlands Hop will become a regular neighborhood tradition, much like Bardstown Road Aglow.
The event also comes as some businesses along the corridor have struggled with declining foot traffic. Former Highlands locations of Mark's Feed Store and Tacos D Amor & More closed in recent years, with business owners pointing to lower traffic and sales.
Organizers said Highlands Hop could expand over time to include things such as trolleys or cocktail competitions.
Businesses interested in participating can reach out to Darling's or Murray's Creole Pub through social media.
