LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville chef made the cut as a semifinalist for the 2025 James Beard awards.

Noam Bilitzer was nominated for the best chef in the southeast. He's the executive chef of the NuLu restaurant Meesh Meesh, which offers family-style eastern Mediterranean and middle eastern food and drinks.

Bilitzer is competition against chefs from 19 other restaurants from Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, West Virginia and Tennessee.

The James Beard Awards are considered to be one of the country's most prestigious culinary awards.

Bardstown's The Bar at Willett was also nominated in the outstanding bar category.
