LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Progress Park Airstream Resort and Event Center celebrated the grand opening of a brand new 10,000-square-foot event space Thursday.

The all-inclusive glamping resort welcomed its first guests in 2019 after two families' — the McDowells and Pifers — love of camping inspired them to share their property near Louisville's Buechel neighborhood with others. Now, guests can host large events like weddings, family reunions, corporate events and more all while enjoying nature.

"Not only can we do the camping and bringing groups together to experience the outdoors in a really nice setting, but now you can do the larger events," Mike Pifer, co-owner of Progress Park, said Thursday.

The new space features a custom catering area, a wraparound covered patio, a 6,000-square-foot main room and other notable qualities almost entirely completed by the founders themselves. The property has seven Airstreams, two houses and a bunkhouse, offering housing for 65 people.

"It's neat to see you take a place from a rundown, just kind of property and then, now, to see people bring their families out here," Pifer said in 2022.
