LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A larger Goodwill store opened Friday in Shively, bringing expanded shopping space and more support for job training programs in the community.
The new location at 4813 Dixie Highway is Goodwill Kentucky’s 70th store statewide. The 13,300-square-foot space replaces a smaller site, allowing for more donations and a wider selection for shoppers.
Leaders said the expansion will help fund job training, education and support services for Kentuckians facing barriers to employment.
"Moments like these are about more than opening doors," President and CEO Amy Luttrell said.
Goodwill Kentucky officials said most of the money generated through its stores is reinvested into programs like workforce training, housing support and expungement services, offered through its network of Opportunity Centers.
